It has never been just a calendar. Its exclusivity added to its value. The ‘Kingfisher Swimsuit Special 2008’ promises to keep the glam factor going. After being shot extensively in France, South Africa and Mauritius, the 2008 calendar will zoom the lens on India.

Seven models, Deepti Gujral, Sheetal Menon, Monikangna Dutta, Shruti Agrawal, Preeti Desai, Melissa Mehra and Tamara Moss, have sported luxurious brands and posed at locales ranging from the snow-capped Ladakh to the wilderness of Andaman and Nicobar for the latest issue. Photographer Atul Kasbekar has again clicked the models.

Apart from Ladakh and the islands of Andaman and Nicobar, the Kingfisher Swimsuit Special 2008 – India has been shot at the palaces of Udaipur and the beaches and museums of Goa.

All about adventure

“We have been keen on shooting in India for a while,” says Kasbekar. “Actually, very few countries can boast of the variety of places that India offers. Shooting in India has been a singularly incredible experience,” he adds. The India sojourn ensured its share of adventure.

“We shot at Ladakh at over 18,000 feet and took boat rides in the Andamans. We also shot at the amazing, new Calizz museum in Goa,” Kasbekar is eloquent.

Sheetal Menon, who was part of the calendar in 2005, says shooting in India brought in a different work schedule. “It was a little hectic shooting in various places, but the places were all so beautiful,” she says.

The calendar has provided a space to fame for those who appear on it. “The calendar amounts to immense publicity,” acknowledges Kasbekar. The photographer has been part of the Kingfisher calendar for years now. Looking back at the success of the calendar, Kasbekar says, “When we started, we were the only ones who took the calendar space seriously. Over the years, it has become a launch pad for models. It has been an amazing experience for me too,” he winds up.
