Inspiring example
The article, ‘Charting her own course’ (Metroplus, November 15) on Petchi, the daughter of roadside vendors who went on to become a chartered accountant, is inspiring.
I also read ‘Let them have books’ (November 15) with interest.

Timely?
Each of the three articles for Deepavali, ‘Surviving Deepavali’, ‘Time to exercise caution’ and ‘It can leave you breathless’ (November 8) were of great interest.
But, would they not have been more useful if they had been published a few days before the festival?
‘Blood, gore and more’ (November 12) discusses threadbare the increasing tendency on the part of filmmakers to glorify violence in their films.
It should help in producing the desired result.
‘Walk on the dark side’ (November 12) reveals the deplorable state of women’s safety in India .
There should be a change in the attitude of men if women are to live in safety in this country.
