Festival offers: real or gimmick? : Voice your views

Discount sales during festivals are gimmicks luring consumers to make unnecessary purchases disturbing family budgets and dumping unwanted goods in homes. It is common sense that big companies are not charitable institutions so as to offer such huge discounts in the name of festivities. Rather, it is a useful marketing and selling tool, which helps to create a demand, grab market share and create excitement among consumers. Earlier, it was only during festive seasons but now discount sales have become round-the-year phenomena. Still festival season is the best time to sell anything because traditionally it is the buying season too.
