Fest with a meaning

A school festival to promote students’ interest in science and technology

Stimulating the interest of young minds, the Economics and Computer departments of Salwan Public School, Rajinder Nagar put together a grand festival recently. Called Eco-Comp Quest, 2007, it was aimed at promoting students’ interest in the fie ld of science and technology as well as expressing themselves on the contemporary economic issues.

Over 25 schools participated in this event which offered them a platform to compete with like-minded experts. An exhaustive discussion on rupee appreciation, retail marketing, SEZ’s in India took place as part of Economics symposium. The role of SEBI in managing the unregulated inflows was keenly debated in panel discussion.

Shweta Garg, New State Academy and Rhea Chatterjee, Salwan Public School, Gurgaon were adjudged best speakers.

Sahil Manocha, Salwan Public School, Rajinder Nagar bagged the best panellist award.

The computer fest was truly interesting with host of events including group discussions, web it up, chill-skill, slide it, war of the Dj’s, visually Basic events, etc.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Vandana Puri and the Chief Guest of the occasion Arvind Jha, Founder Director Movies Technologies urged the students to think beyond the classroom and keep themselves well-tuned to the developments taking place around them in order to always be at the top.

Judges for the Eco-Fest, Preeti Mehra Pillai, Deputy Editor, The Hindu Business Line, Pawan Kumar, Senior Lecturer, Ramjas College presented the awards to the winners while Anwar Ahmed Khan, Zonal Head of NIIT, the Chief Guest for the second session presented the awards to the winners of Computer Fest and the Best Team Trophy to Delhi Public School, Mathura Road.
