Big bash

Tamil superstar Rajnikanth has emerged as an icon for television channels across India, and December 12, his birthday, has become a significant occasion for them. This year, several upcountry news channels plan to celebrate his birthday, along with Vijay TV, which is coming up with a special show “Mannadhi Mannan” for Rajni fans. “Rajni Rasigan Express”, a branded publicity vehicle, will travel across Bangalore, Coimbatore, Tiruchi and Chennai. It’s journey will be featured on “Mannadhi Mannan”. The actor’s contemporaries will give their bytes on the show and his landmark films will also be screened. Each episode will focus on a specific facet of the superstar - his youth spent in Bangalore, his entry into cinema, his hits, his style and the character roles he has played. The show will also feature his wife Latha, daughters Aishwarya and Soundarya, and son-in-law Danush wishing him. There will be a number of contests – ‘Can you speak in Rajni Style?’ and a special SMS Q&A contest on the superstar. “Mannadhi Mannan” will be on air from today till December 13 (Monday to Thursday), 10.00 p.m. on Vijay TV.
