Nissan and Bajaj sign pact
A few months ago, Renault-Nissan and Bajaj Auto had talks in Paris about the possibility of working together to develop a $3,000 car.
The two have come to an agreement. Parts such as the engine, transmission, materials and size have been decided, but a prototype hasn’t been made yet. The launch of this car has been planned for 2010 and if all goes well, Bajaj will build this car with technical support from Renault-Nissan. In fact, Renault and Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn has also raised the possibility that this new low-cost car could be sold under all three badges — Bajaj, Nissan and Renault — with slight visual variations.
New E-class
Codenamed W212, the new E-Class from Mercedes-Benz will come to India later than it is expected. It will probably reach our shores only by early 2010 as the new E is expected to be launched internationally by 2009 and it will take at least six months for Mercedes to gear up for local assembly in India.
The twin headlamp design signature is most likely to be retained on the new car as well.
