Myrah mystique

Jewellery designer Roopa Vohra displays her new line of jewellery

Couture jeweller Roopa Vohra is back in the city with her annual show. This time, she turns to the galaxy for inspiration and calls the line “Myrah.” The collection is being showcased at Wallace Hall, Park Sheraton, on December 5 and 6, 11 a.m. onwards.

Says Roopa, “To me Myrah is all about brilliance and uniqueness. Each piece speaks a vibrant colour story. The speciality of the collection is the size of the stones. I’ve used large stones and worked around their shapes. Stones are indeed a major spur for creativity.”

To make the collection versatile, the designer has created some detachable pieces and colour change options to mix and match for formal occasions or casual outings. “With the festive season round the corner, I had to design some elaborate pieces. At the same time, I don’t want the jewellery to go back to the cupboard after one use. So, I came up with some options to help customers continue to use them by detaching parts of the jewellery or changing the colour of the stone.”

Meticulously designed, Roopa describes the line as a “ballad of artistry and craftsmanship. The beauty of Indian crafts lies in its personalised touch. So we don’t replicate the pieces. ”

The collection in gold comprises neck pieces, earrings and bracelets and comes encrusted with a variety of precious and semi-precious stones. While some of them marry a classic and contemporary design aesthetic, others are typically ethnic. “I have a wide client base. So I’ve kept in mind varied tastes while designing the jewellery,” smiles Roopa.
