Great importance

When the stork visits late (November 24) discusses an issue of great importance for the present day. Childbirth now is getting a bit problematic. The position of older parentage is ticklish and avoidable. Being an early bird, as suggested in the article, is very much desirable.

A sense of fear

Inflicting corporal punishment may infuse a sense of fear in the minds of young children, and have a negative impact. Instead, they should be motivated to do things in a proper way.

One should beat those retirement blues, and adopt a new take on life (Life starts…).

After all, retirement is not the end of a period, it is the beginning of a fresh phase in life, where you enjoy and live life on your terms. Regular exercises and hobbies will help turn the twilight years into something sweet.

Involved

Are you good enough (Nov. 26) made for interesting reading. Even the educated find it difficult to express their views clearly, due to lack of communication skills.

One is happy to note that tennis legend Vijay Amritharaj is involved in charity (Game, set, match Nov. 29).

Wise counsel

Early marriage is wise counsel. The article on the advantages of women getting children early in life is sociologically relevant today. Though the writer has mentioned in her piece some advantages of late childbirth, the benefits of starting the family early outweigh the former.

Beneficial tips

Life starts at 60 (Nov. 19) throws light on life after sixty. It suggests ways of spending time in a meaningful way, provides many tips that will be very beneficial to the elderly.

Kind advice would yield more positive results than rash punishments inflicted in a fit of fury (Hard Facts, Nov. 26). Corporal punishment not only leaves a scar on the body, it produces a permanent psychological impression that is hard to erase. States that have not banned corporal punishment to children would do well to address the issue.
