Religious fervour

Serials on Lord Ayyappa of Sabarimala are turning out to be a hit on all south Indian channels during the pilgrimage season (November 15 to January 15). “Swami Ayyappan” on Vijay TV is the Tamil dubbed version of the original Malayalam se rial based on the stories and myths passed through generations. It has been enacted beautifully by a strong cast. To cash in on the religious fervour this season, Vijay TV has introduced a show titled, “Pallikattu Sabarimalaikku” (Monday-Thursday, 7 p.m.), a sort of a prelude to the “Swami Ayyappan” serial that starts at 7.30 p.m. This show will speak about the speciality of the Karthigai month, the significance of the pilgrimage, the 41-day fast and the 18 steps.
