The Samayal Rani contest saw many participants
|
Over 500 women participated in the Bharat Petroleum Corporation’s Samayal Rani contest. The event was organised to give women an opportunity to showcase their cooking skills. Held at Hotel Green Park the contestants were between the ages of 16
and 75 years.
Samayal Rani 2007 had three rounds. The contestants had to cook a picnic hamper, from which 10 participants were selected out of 123 contestants. Actor Prashanth crowned the winners of the various titles. S. Jayalakshmi, a staff nurse from G.G. Hospital won the Samayal Rani 2007 crown while the second and third places went to K. Vidya and Vasantha Satish. The title of Samayal Ilavarasi for college students went to Niveditha of MOP Vaishnav College, followed by Shenaz and Saranya.
In the Samayal Kuyil contest, participants were asked to sing songs based on food, fruits and vegetables. The Samayal Kuyil title was won by Padmini and the second and third places went to Lakshmi and Sundaravalli. The Samayal Killadigal title was won by Pavithra, Meenakshni, Sudha and Ajay Kuruvilla. This was a spot cooking contest and the contestants had to make a mocktail from the ingredients given to them.
