Season’s special

Kalakshetra Foundation presents the screening of “Season”, a documentary film by R. V. Ramani, today at 6.30 p.m. at Bharata Kalakshetra Auditorium, Kalakshetra. Entry is free.

Margazhi, the Tamil month, is the time for musicians, dancers and rasikas to come together to celebrate the arts. Popularly known as the December Season, more than 1,000 performances are organised in different parts of Chennai by various sabhas. Journeying through the ambience of the 1996 December Music Season, moving from one artist to another, before/during/after the performances, the film attempts to portray the very essence of the culture that prevails during the season. The three-hour film features artists such as Kadri Gopalnath, Guru Kelucharan Mahapatra, Sanjay Subramaniam, Bombay Jayashree, S. Sowmya, Neiveli Santanagopalan, Sudha Raghunathan, T. N. Seshagopalan, Amjad Ali Khan and many more.
