Slick catwalk Models wowed the city’s fashion brigade in a glittering show at Le Meridien

The city’s style-o-meter shot up Wednesday last to an absolutely fabulous fashion show at the Space Frame, Le Meridien, announcing The Hindu Metroplus Lifestyle Show from December 28 to January 6 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Inter nmational Stadium, Kaloor. As graceful models, flown down from Bangalore, sashayed down the runway, preening the latest in clothes and gadgets, in jewellery and perfumes the cognoscenti regaled in a chic, top-of-the-pops show.

Games and quiz

Choreographed by Rahul Shetty and conducted by elegant emcee Divya Ramprasad, the show was not a one sided watching-the-ramp affair.

The 20 fashion sequences were interlaced with games and questions for the audience with several lucky winners walking away with jewellery from A. Geeri Pai, perfumes from Ahsan, DVD players from Samsung besides many other gifts from the sponsors. And these wonderful interludes had the crowd walking the ramp and battling with their wits to brain teasers, all to win the coveted prizes.

Teasers

Who is the brand ambassador of Samsung for Beijing Olympics, went one teaser. No, not from football, no...not tennis, no, not Narain Karthikeyan.... here’s a clue.. Rathore, Rana. And as the crowd frantically threw up wrong answers a calm voice shot out, Manavjit Singh Sandhu.

It was then Lady Luck’s turn to ring in the lady with the largest number of rings on her fingers. Believe it or not there was one with seven rings walking away with a pendant as prize. Lady with the longest hair, gentleman with the most number of credit cards, gentleman with the most number of Rs.1,000 notes, were all winners that evening. A quiz for sporting couples on how best they knew their spouse had a made-for-each-other couple walk away with the prize. And these little interludes were like curtains between the beautiful sequences of the show.

Samsung’s swanky and slick range of ipods, cameras camcorders saw a high-tech display by the models. The diamond and pearl jewellery collection from A. Geeri Pai looked magical on models draped in golden satin. The trendy jewellery collection was hip and cool. The fragrances from Ahsan perfumes, for different moods, were captured aptly in Silent Valley and Crazy Moments sequences. Clothes from My Kingdom had models coming with a fantastic range for all occasions. The Manzoni collection for men saw stylish hunks in fashionable jackets of maroon, black and browns: A visually fantastic sequence. But what stole the show were the kids displaying kidswear from My Kingdom.

Confident kids

In all their sweetness and charm the kids walked confidently in cute jackets, caps, scarves, glares with a walk that matched the practice and ease, the poise and swagger of style and statement. The kids won the hearts and got a thunderous applause from a crowd that was shy to clap hard. Le Meridien, the hospitality partner and the official hosts for the show, laid out a perfect setting at the Space Frame and a superb dinner to match the occasion.

The chief sponsors for The Hindu Metroplus Lifestyle show are Samsung and associate sponsors are General Motors, Ahsan Perfumes, Asset Homes and Bismi Appliances.

Chic jewellery

Jewellery from A. Geeri Pai, clothes from My Kingdom and Samsung products were displayed by the models in a curtain raiser to the Hindu Metroplus Lifestyle show, 2007 coming up at the end of the month.
