Colourful Visitors going around the stalls
Astonishing range of artefacts in myriad hues from different parts of the country is the highlight of the ongoing Gandhi Shilp Bazaar expo at Viswapriya Function Hall. Right from terracotta items to colourful ceramic artefacts and a range of handlooms make this expo a shopper’s paradise.
Sourced from remote crafts pockets of the country, the artefacts have a distinct design and charm of their own.
Subhash Chandra from Hariyana has brought with him a range of camel leather ethnic ‘juthis’. Delicately crafted designs and thread work lend it a traditional look. One of the wonders of the expo is the magic lamp in a tortoise shape at a stall from Nagpur.
Priced at Rs.50 onwards, the ceramic lamps in bright colours are a must buy. Apart from this wooden artefacts and traditional items like Kondapalli and Etikopakka toys also adorn the stalls.
Those who wish to get a feel of the rich craft traditions of our country will be delighted to see the range of ethnically embellished saris and dress materials on display. If you are a collegian looking for some neat salwaar-kameez, kurtis, shirts, junk jewellery, mirror-work and batik bags, dupattas and stoles, head to this place. Ready-to-wear cotton Kashmiri kurtas make easy college and work-wear too.
The expo is on till December 24.
