Go the international way this winter

Whether it is Pierre Cardin or Tedlapidus, each brand has a distinct identity and makes its own statement

Brand equity International brands are in vogue

“The difference between style and fashion is quality.” - Giorgio Armani

The quotable quote of fashion guru Armani seems to be catching up with the present generation like wild fire. Today fashion is all about brands. And brands means quality. Brands not only embellish a personality but also speak about the person. It tal ks about his or her tastes, makes a style statement and describes one’s status and character.

“Brands are also addictive,” says Sayed Mehmood Ali of M. F. Khan International.

MFK International is a showroom that exclusively showcases international brands like Pierre Cardin, Tedlapidus, Daniel Hechter, Savile Row, Azzaro, Guy Laroche, Dormeuil, Verri, Valentino, Roberto Canali and Ermenegildo Zegna under one roof. He says that once a person gets a feel of a brand it is very difficult to get over it and will not compromise when it comes to signing of the cheque.

There is a lot of difference between branded stuff and the unbranded ones when it comes to fashion. The difference is not only in the name but it is present in every thing right from the fabric to the accessories and from fittings to the money that you pay. “In a nutshell, there is a vast difference in quality and that makes the brands so famous. There is also a big gap between the international fashion trends and the local couture. International brands are more trendy and updated,” says Ahmed Ali Khan of MFK.

So what’s in store this winter? The labels indicate an all-European fashion and when it’s Europe, it got to be formals or semi-formals (casuals).

Formals brands like Ermenegildo Zegna, Dormeuil, Savile Row, Danile Hechter and Guy Laroche lead the way. While Savile Row and Guy Laroche have blazers and suits in the readymade section, others showcase their stuff in the form of fabrics.

“The range of fabrics will take you to a different world itself. The fabric is superfine and of premium quality. It is light, yet warm enough to beat the chill. They are manufactured from the hand picked cashmere or Tasmania wool,” says Ali Khan.

Whether it is Pierre Cardin or Tedlapidus, each brand has a distinct identity and makes its own statement. Daniel Hechter that has its origin from the fashion capital of the world, Paris, blends French savoir-faire with sporty elegance. It garbs wearers in the certainty of always being well dressed. Fashion from Daniel Hechter conveys a lifestyle feeling, rendering the brand both authenticity and appeal. For people with a taste for formals and suits, DH is the brand.

Brands like Pierre Cardin (PC), Verri and Azzaro lead the way in the informal segment. A ‘cool’ linen ‘PC’ shirt with light-weight Verri trousers could go well with a Guy Laroche blazer.

The blazers from Laroche are almost feather-weight and the ones that are made of bamboo pulp make the fashion more trendy. The corduroy jackets from Guy Laroche come in shades of grey, black, blue and brown, and they can pass off both as formal and semi-formal wear in the winter.

“Fashion is not complete with the fabric that you wear. Fabric should be ideally complemented with the footwear and accessories. At our place, we have everything right from branded footwear to wallets and from Pierre Cardin pens to Savile Row ties. We also intend to set up shops in cities like Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar and Vijayawada,” adds Mehboob.

So it’s time to go the international way this winter.
