George Mathen takes the credit for the visual identity of LP. The name though took quite some arriving at. They say they went through 85,000 names and finalised 88 and chose this. The logo features a Piranha head-on with lips like a sofa. It is a product of complete visual art theme that they say has “George going bananas.” “He goes berserk and a little more. That’s his style.” There is also a LP comic called Shatrix! featuring the band’s stories.
* Archana Prasad with a background of animation at NID and painting at CKP, is responsible for the audio visual slideshow. She decided to experiment with the band starting with candlelight jams and performances. Then an old 35-mm slide projector gave a new twist. She painted some slides, scratched them and projected them to create an ambience and mood for the music. “I love to shoot videos so saved money and bought a mini-DV. Slowly song by song I added stuff and now there is an entire library. These guys make it difficult by deciding their songs on stage and I have to match the visuals on the spot.”
* There is no “Wassup Bangalore” with LP. Instead there is a “strong component of humour”, that includes dressing up in costumes or self-styled impromptu covers of classics or grabs from Bollywood. One stand-out “wild idea” was MC Judge Bounce, complete with a wig, at National Law School’s Strawberry Fields, for some good-natured lawyer fun.
