Kids Week from December 26 to 29

Storytrails ( www.storytrails.in) celebrates Kids Week with a series of special events during the Christmas holidays! Kids can explore their neighbourhood through trails designed to kindle their interest in var ious topics. Here is the schedule of events.

A two-hour Christmas Trail, to be held on December 26, will enlighten kids about the Christmas story. From a visit to a church to hear the stories of the Crib, to a visit to a Christian home to see how it is decorated, the trail will take the kids through the celebrations and the fascinating stories behind some of the traditions. The walk starts from the Votive Shrine (Kilpauk Church) at 9 a.m. and ends there at 11 a.m.

A two-hour Nature Walk scheduled for December 27 will allow kids to discover various plants, herbs and trees in their neighbourhood, each with a unique story behind it. There are contests and treasure hunts too! The venue is the Nageshwara Rao Park, Mylapore and the time, 7.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m.Mylapore, a town that predates Chennai by at least 2,000 years, is widely considered the hub from where the rest of the city grew. Peacock Trails, a two-hour walk in Mylapore, takes kids through the traditional heart of the city, with dozens of stories from myth, legend and history. Participants will have to report at the Kapaleeshwara Temple, Mylapore at 7.30 p.m.

In a storytelling workshop, to be held on December 29, children will get a chance to explore the storyteller in them. It will be held at Vanilla – Children’s Place, Mylapore from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

All the events are open to children aged between 7 and 12. The tariff is Rs. 295 per child, per trail. Refreshments will be provided. The tariff for the workshop is Rs. 150 per child.
