New look

With New Year around the corner, here are some tips for a complete makeover

EYESHADOW TO MATCH Green is the colour of the season

All through the year you eat junk food, drink and party every night… and, finally, you realise you have slowly but surely grown out of shape. Fitness expert Jalaja Suri suggests a couple of exercises that will help you get back into shape by Ne w Year.

Warming up is the first step in any exercise regimen that must never be ignored. Simple neck rolls from side to side and in an up and down motion releases the neck muscles. Rotating the shoulders in an in-and-out motion helps increase flexibility. Stretching the upper part of the body and inner thigh helps the easy movement of muscles. Also, remember, one must not go wrong while breathing, as it can take a toll on your health. Jogging or marching on the spot is also an easy method to warm up. Devote a minimum of 10 minutes to warm up your body.

Start with five to ten minutes of warm up exercises, using light-medium weights. Start with one or two exercises for each muscle group in the upper body and three to four moves for the lower body. Practise the overhead press, lateral raise and front raise to work out the shoulders. Yoga helps your body achieve stability, balance, good posture, toned muscles and weight loss. Regular practice improves strength, flexibility and facilitates digestion. Surya Namaskar is a complete stretch exercise. It is a combination of a few asanas. After the completion of every exercise, it is essential to cool down. This process helps bring the heart beat back to normal. This can be done by lying down on a mat. Stretch your hands and legs.

Rotate your hands inwards and outwards, open and close your fingers a couple of times and rotate your feet clockwise and anti clockwise. Close your eyes and relax for a few minutes. Besides rigorous exercise, a healthy diet is necessary. Have plenty of vegetables, fruits, juices and liquids throughout the day. Dieting is not advisable as it can cause acidity and weakness. Substitute rotis or chapattis for rice. To go with that perfect body you need the right look.

Make-up for the winter should be colourful and glossy. After a cleaning, toning and moisturising routine, massage a small quantity of metallic cream on your face. Use a branded foundation that will blend well with your skin, making you look natural. The metallic cream enhances the glow of your skin and ensures the make-up stays for long.

For the eye-lids green rules this season. It suits Asian skin the best. Bright colours such as red, fuchsia and black team well most accessories. Those with almond shaped eyes can experiment with most colours, while big round eyes can experiment with subtle colours. Finally, those with deep set eyes can use bright colours and shiny highlights. Thick mascara completes your eye makeup. Well-defined glossy lips are in. Sheer red, glossy pinks and lilac rule this winter. Co-ordinating your eye colour with the shade of your eye shadow is preferable. A lip liner is also a must as it acts as a corrective device, and bans the lip colour from bleeding. Nudes and pastel shades can be used only if the eyes are highlighted.

Since your face is already shining because of the metallic cream and the foundation, peach, pink, red, creamy and bronze blushes bring a fresh and natural look.
