Arthashastra, the annual Commerce fest organised by St. Francis College rocked and how!

Swaying to the beat Youngsters having a ball at the college fest

It was time to spill the beans. Karan Johar was there sans his couch, coffee mugs and a merry band of superstars. ‘So K. Jo, what’s your friendship with Rani Mukherjee and King Khan?’ It was a direct poser from the audience. Nikhil Acharya, a commerce student who was playing the ace director in a mock celebrity session, smiled and replied: “Rani is just a good friend and when the time will come, the world will know about me and Shahrukh!” What followed was howls, hoots and a wide round of applause. Next, it was the turn of Ranadeep Sen, a student of IPE who showed his business skills by being Mukesh Ambani. Hansika, a student of St. Francis College turned the heat on by playing the hot Mallika Sherawat. A youngster from the crowd grilled the Murder girl: ``Can you pick your Emran Hashmi from the crowd?’ All this was part of ‘Mr & Ms. CEO’, an interesting session of Arthashastra, the annual inter-collegiate Commerce fest organised by St. Francis College on Thursday.

The college looked like a carnival buzzing with events. Students all over the lawns, most of them lazing around were in glitzy, attention-grabbing gear. Striped armbands, brighter, stylish and sequinned kurtis teamed with fashionable denims zoomed high on the fashion radar. However, the action was all happening at the basketball ground. The thumping beat of Beedi jalayale jigar se piya, Darde-Disco (from Omkara and Om Shanti Om) remixes, cheers of balle balle, numerous open palms pumping in the air, shoulders wiggling and feet moving in rhythmic motion… the youngsters were having a ball swinging to the beats of DJ Falgun. RJs Adonica and Chetan added some spice with their funny chatter.

The rounds were wacky, interesting and testing the grey cells of young boys and girls. If ‘Caption Writing’ required the participants to say it in cleverly, ‘T-Shirt Designing’ with its topic Apple i.Pod, was a mix of fun ‘n’ creative imagination. ‘Cues N A’s, Magnum Opus, Logo Designing, Junk Yard, Decipher Me and Treasure Hunt…were some of the other sessions, which kept the participants busy. Says S. Harsha, the vice president of COFEE (Commerce organisation for emerging entrepreneurs), a student body of the department of Commerce, “The event is a platform to showcase the enterprising skills of the students and also help them gain a better knowledge of the outside world.”

In the end, Ranadeep Sen and Hansika were adjudged the ‘Mr & Ms CEO’ and singer Hemchandra was present to give away the prizes.
