A vintage drive
It was the day reserved for taking the priceless oldies on a rare drive. During a heritage drive to Pataudi Palace recently, over 50 vintage and classic cars, motor cycles and scooters took to the road and traversed a distance of 50 kms. The drive wa
s flagged off from Claremont Hotel and Conventional Centre on the Gurgaon-Mehrauli Road by the Governor of Kerala, R.L. Bhatia and High Commissioner of Pakistan, Shahid Malik.
Classic icons like Mustang 1964, Volkswagon Beetle 1969, Chevrolet Impala 1962 and Ford Jeep 1944 and classics such as the Mercedes Sports roadster 170 V and the Jaguar XK 120, 1948, and a Rolls Royce Corniche, hand built by James Young in 1970, were all part of the rally organised by the Heritage Motoring Club of India. After the drive, it was time to judge the most well-performing vintage vehicle. The prize for the Best Vintage Car went to S.K Lakhotia for his Austin 7, 1931, and the Best Classic Car prize was won by Fateh Singh Akho for his Jaguar XK 120, 1948. Jassi Singh’s Lambretta D Model (open) was the Best Classic Scooter, and Jaspal Singh’s BSA- A-65, 1965, was adjudged the Best Classic Mortor Cycle.
