‘Over-praised?’ (December 10) contains useful tips for parents and teachers. They often commit the grievous mistake of either over-praising the children for their achievements or rebuking them strongly for their shortcomings.

The need for striking a sensible balance between the two extremes has been rightly stressed.

‘Winter workouts’ (same issue) offers good guidance. ‘Funny, in parts’ (December 13) was interesting as the author has taken care to present a factual report.

The true charm of the age-old guru-sishya parampara has been brought to light through the absorbing conversation between two senior musicians, T.V.Gopalakrishnan and Bhupinder Singh (December 13).

‘Punch guru’ (December 15) reveals Bharat Dhabolkar’s creative journey.

Mind television (December 20) spoke about different aspects of dreams.

But science has its own views on the topic.

Dreams, no doubt, are puzzling. And, a dreamless sleep is bliss.

The article ‘An insight into their lives’ (December 8) highlights the problems of the blind and the welfare measures available for them.

It also threw light on how the vocational training helps the visually challenged take to care of their routine activities without depending on others.

‘With the classics’ (December 17) on prolific writer Nayantara Sahgal made for interesting reading.

‘Music bridges time and distance’ (December 13), and the Take Two between Veterans T.V. Gopalakrishnan and Bhupinder Singh on their musical journeys was enjoyable.
