MIND POWER Not really ghosts
Most people may have strange experiences without rational explanations. One such experience is the ‘Chelakkara mystery’. It is known that on ‘Pradoshavritham’ day, one Mr. R will perform a pooja at night and experience strange
things like certain things offered to Lord Shiva with devotion vanishing The mantra recited by Mr. R is ‘Om Namashivaya’ during the time when he performs the pooja.
It is said that the ‘Nilavilakku would light up and strange coins would appear as prasadam. There are people who go to Chellakkara to witness this phenomena and seek blessings from Lord Shiva on the Pradoshavritham day.
We are familiar to favourite techniques used by people to get visitors to see haunted houses and bungalows. People go there in the hope that they will have some strange experience or maybe even see a ghost!
People personally do not claim that they have actually seen a ghost, but allege that they have experienced certain strange phenomena akin to “ghost play”, when they were younger.
Some had experienced “entities” taking the form of a particular odour or a change in the general feel of the surroundings. ‘DéjÀ vu’ is an another experience of the people who foresee events , who would be involved in the event and predict the exact words that the various people would use under such circumstances.
One may have even a sense of familiarity in strange surroundings, when they get the feeling of ‘DéjÀ vu’ . He may be sure that he was part of a conversation that has already taken place.Scientists are interested in telepathy and associated extrasensory perceptions (psychic phenomena) and perform controlled laboratory experiments.
Thus Tsiolkovsky had remarked that in the coming age of space travel telepathic abilities would be helpful for the progress of mankind. Now Dowsers claim that they have mysterious powers to detect under earth water and oil. They even forecast the sex of an unborn child! In every society we see prophets, oracles and fortune tellers.
Predictions
The prediction of Nostradamus and mother Shipton had aroused excitement even among the incredulous. In this age also people believe that mind has power over matter and the pure mind identifying itself with pure consciousness can transcend time and space.
Scientific experimentations on the various manifestations associated with extra-sensory perception reveal that psychotronics play a significant part in knowing telekinesis, super memory, extra-sensory diagnostics and treatment. They modestly admit also that there are phenomena still impossible to explain.
Frazer in his book ‘Golden Bough’ analyses thought processes and says that like produces like or that an effect resembles its cause and secondly things which have been once in contact which each other may continue to act mysteriously on each other even from distance.
The former principle is called the law of similarity and the latter the law of contact or contagion. From the former principle, one can produce any effect he desires by imitating its cause. From the latter principle, Frazer infers that whatever one does to an object will effect to the person with whom to object comes in contact.
We now know that the saint or avatar by “willing” can materialise from the cosmos what he wants. So next time if one experiences something strange or something “goes bump” in the night, he is to realise that he may be either in a state of increased awareness or emotional distress.
