Devotional serial
The most successful reality show in Hindi, “Naach Baliye”, on Star Plus ended last Saturday. The channel found it difficult to fill that slot with another reality show so it has replaced the dance programme with a mythological serial R
20;Jai Maa Durga”, from December 29, 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Produced by Sagar Film, the serial is an adaptation of Durga Shaptshati. Says Prem Sagar: “It is a story of relationships and how circumstances affect them. It is a lesson on life with sage words from none other than the goddess herself. It is the story of good versus evil – the existence of both is important for maintaining the balance in the Universe but when evil becomes too strong, divine power has to intervene to save mankind.”
But whether a devotional serial can match the record breaking TRPs of a reality show is the big question.
