It has become a fad to make New Year resolutions. But what is the most important aspect of making a resolution is to be sincere and true to the self-made promises. The resolve to abstain from vices and follow the positive path will help us to grow into strong individuals. Enthusiasm of implementing the resolutions should not fizz out after some days. Instead, one must be pragmatic and make feasible promises which can be followed easily. Other than self-centred resolutions, one must make promises for social causes too. People can set aside some money every month and use the collected cash at the end of the year to serve the needy. We can avoid unnecessary purchases and support economically backward students. A teacher can resolve to offer free tuition to poor students. Anything that contributes to one’s own welfare and other’s welfare is the best resolution.
