Manoj Bajpai: Remembering Delhi…
City of struggle Manoj Bajpai in Delhi
New Delhi had its own share of joy and happiness at a pre-Christmas party at IKKO bar-restaurant on New Delhi’s Malcha Marg this week.
It was attended by lot of who’s who from the Bollywood and fashion fraternity – from Manoj Bajpai, Shahar Ali, Zulfi Sayeed, Shibani Kashyap to Shahnaz Hussain and many more. For Manoj, it was an occasion to remember his student days in Delhi.
“Delhi is my struggle city. I studied here. I used to go to JNU regularly where my brother used to stay.
It’s Ganga Dhaba was my favourite joint where I used to enjoy paranthas and tea.”
This National School of Drama product, who made it to Bollywood through sheer hard work, has one remorse, “The people in Champaran in Bihar where I hail from, still don’t give respect to actors or those who work in ‘dramas’.
“I am not taken as a very respected person there. People are traditional and little close-minded there. But the mindset is slowly changing there too.”
Manoj’s favourite film is Shool. “I like it because it is against corruption so am I,” he concluded while slipping into the din of the party.
