Calling all bibliophiles
Bibliophiles rejoice! The city is playing host to the 11-day International Book Fair. The fair, which started on December 27, has all the leading publications in the country such as Penguin Books, Oxford University Press, Rupa Publications, Pierson I
nternational, Orient Longman, Scholastic and National Book Trust of India as participants.
Apart from books, a series of lectures, seminars on publishing, book releases and cultural programmes such as Theyyam, Mudiyett, Sarpam patt and Kolam thullal will also be conducted.
Treat for children
Children are in for a treat as there will be special programmes for them featuring artistes such as Mrinalini Sarabhai and Kanchana Mukherjee. Daily book review contests for children, classes on Malayalam language and literature by poet D. Vinayachandran, and a painting competition on the topic ‘My Planet,’ will be organised as part of the events for children.
The book fair at Kanakakkunnu Palace Grounds is being organised by the Kerala State Institute of Children’s Literature as part of the ongoing Grand Kerala Shopping festival.
