Beauty and durability The MetroPlus Lifestyle Show opened at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium, Kochi, on Friday. Poetry in pottery, pretty dry flowers and household goods are on sale
It is different. Unlike the usual exhibitions that one comes across, the 10-day The Hindu MetroPlus Lifestyle Show that opened at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium, Kaloor, is one spectacular showcase of innovation, inspir
ation and indulgence.
A centrepiece event, which turns a perfect vehicle to reach out to the crowd, the particular segment to which The Hindu MetroPlus reaches out, will run into the New Year, closing on January 6, 2008.
High end products
The focus of the second edition of the Lifestyle Show is as always, on high end products. And what will take your breath away is the stunning exclusivity.
Spread over 45,000 square feet of shopping space and over 150 stalls inside air-conditioned hangars, the show provides a wonderful chance for the customer to strike some great deals. There is a huge choice of products ranging from furniture and furnishings, swanky cars, choice music systems to the latest television sets, textiles and much more. Ahead of New Year, this show provides a perfect chance for consumers to shop like never before.
“Most of the exhibitors are from outside the city. We have also some from abroad. There are dry flowers, bags, handicraft items and artificial jewellery from Thailand, and exquisite onyx artefacts from Pakistan. This time there are some other interesting stalls for this show. Other than melamine crockery that is sold at Rs. 199 per kilo, we have lovely glassware and imported, branded crockery brought by Bismi Appliances, one of the co-sponsors,” informs Riaz Asif, chairman, iCare Communications, the official event managers of the show. Samsung India, the electronics major and presenter of the event, have brought in their super high end products, from digital audio systems to camcorders to the state-of-the-art televisions. They also offer huge discounts, and attractive finance schemes.
The show provides a new world of furniture and interior decoration. Poettery, Design For Life, the Delhi-based interior decorators, has given a never-before look to wood. A variety of decorative items like teapoys, table lamps, flower vases, framed mirrors with that glazed look and art work is a virtual stand out. Another stall sure to catch your eye is Treasure Island, from Mussoorie. They have brought a fine collection of antique furniture. “Most of the pieces here have been collected from old ‘havelis’ in and around Dehradun. There are some new pieces that are made from Burma teak, which is hardly used today. We have some beautiful chandeliers with glass imported from Morocco and paintings done in vegetable oil on wood,” says Sonia Manchanda who has an outlet in Mussoorie.
Hot dosas
When your legs turn into water and you are dying for a refreshing drink, step into the area where you can bite into hot, steaming bhajjis, or dosas, sip steaming tea and coffee from AVT, the beverage partner. Then move along to complete the new shopping experience.
The automobile section has the latest models and a whole range from Chevrolet, brought by General Motors, which is another co-sponsor of the event. Along with General Motors are Peninsular Honda and Sai Services with models of the popular Maruti and Honda cars.
The other associate sponsors are Ahsan Perfumes and Asset Homes, with Le Meridien as hospitality sponsor and NDTV 24x7 as channel partner.
So now get you ticket and enter the MetroPlus Lifestyle Show for some unbelievable shopping opportunity. There are loads and loads of goods waiting to decorate your home this New Year.
