Actor Mrinalini Sharma on “Showbiz”

If acting in the video of Lucky Ali’s “Gori Teri Aankhen” got her the initial recognition, dancing to the tunes of “Aaoji Babu” in Prakash Jha’s Apaharan secured Mrinalini Sharma an entry into Bollywood.

Now she stars in Showbiz, directed by Raju Khan. Talking about her role, Mrinalini says, “I play one of the heads of a TV channel, which hosts a reality show. I also play the love interest of the hero. The film deals with the dark side of show business.”

And the interesting part is she was auditioned by her co-star Tushar Jalota, who was working as an assistant director with the Bhatts. For someone who was supposed to debut with Showbiz, how did she land the role of Reema in Awarapan? “Oh! Showbiz got delayed as the script wasn’t completed. That’s when I met director Mohit Suri. That was also a Bhatt production; so I agreed.” What about the three-film contract with the Bhatt camp? “I have done two, films; the third will happen once the script is ready. Then, I will be free to check out other offers,” she says.
