My eyes are quite small. How can I make them look bigger?

Sonia

Small eyes can be made to look bigger by applying a light eye shadow on the upper lids. Apply a dark one in the crease of the eyelid. Apply a highlighter which is white or light just under the outer side of the brows. The eyeliner or eye pencil shoul d extend outwards and slightly upwards at the outer corner of the eyes. Do not line the lower lids. Apply a line of dark eye shadow just under the lower lashes and then apply mascara on the upper and lower lashes.

Suggest a remedy for fly-away hair. I have this problem in winter.

Jyoti

“Fly-away” hair is caused by too much static. You need to condition your hair after shampooing. Take very little creamy conditioner and massage it lightly into the hair. Leave it on for two minutes and rinse it off with water. Or, use a leave-on type conditioner or hair serum. Applying oil before shampooing will also help. Do not comb or brush your hair too much, as this will only increase the static. A quick emergency treatment is to just wet your hands with water and smoothen the hair.

My hair is so oily that I need to wash it everyday. How often should I wash my hair?

Anand

You can wash your hair every day, provided you use a mild shampoo. It will not damage the hair. Use very little shampoo and rinse your hair thoroughly with water. One application of shampoo should be enough for each hair wash. Take half a teaspoon of shampoo, dilute it with a little water and then use it. After washing your hair, add the juice of a lemon to a mug of water and use it as the last rinse.

I have black marks left by pimples on my face. I don’t get pimples now, but I want to get rid of the marks.

Lata

If you don’t get any pimples now, use a facial scrub twice a week. Mix rice powder with curd and apply it on the face. Rub it gently on the skin with circular movements, especially on the dark marks. Leave it on for a few minutes and wash it off with water. Twice a week, apply a face mask. Mix together four teaspoons of oatmeal with egg white and one teaspoon each of curd, honey and lemon juice. Apply it on the face and wash it off after 20 or 30 minutes. (Oatmeal will be available in food stores.) Mix the liquid ingredients gradually to get the right consistency. It should be a thick paste that does not drip.
