Tribal art by Sankho Chaudhuri

Film buffs could head to Habitat Centre which is currently screening ‘Films of desire’ from different countries of Asia like Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, etc. The films deal with sexuality and the cinematic imagination. An interesting tribal art exhibition is coming up at the IIC. It features the world of Sankho Chaudhuri showcasing arts and artefacts from his collection. The exhibition covers objects assembled from the Middle East, South East Asia, Africa and India. Objects on display represent both the secular and sacred traditions of the village culture. On the music front Bindu Chawla, disciple of Pt. Amarnath will present a Hindustani classical vocal recital.

‘Films of Desire’ features Mark V. Reyes’s The Last Full Show, Cinzia Puspita Rini’s The Matchmaker (Indonesia), Ekachai Uekrongtham’s Beautiful Boxer (Thailand) and Royston Tan’s Cut (Singapore). Habitat Centre, 6.30 p.m. onwards.
