West meets East

Canadian artiste Lisa Patterson performs with Chennai musicians this evening at the Alliance Française

She has two singles that made it to the Top Ten in Europe, two albums and three music video releases to her credit. Canadian singer, songwriter, pianist and alto sax player Lisa Patterson visits Chennai for her second concert in which she will render some of her original songs. The East-West fusion concert will be held at the Alliance Française auditorium, 24, College Road, this evening at 7 p.m. Tickets are priced at Rs. 100 and for students Rs. 50 or they can pay whatever they can as entry fee.

The highlights of the concert will be creative exchanges with bassist/producer Paul Jacob, percussionist Darbuka Shiva and other musicians.

Lisa performed in Chennai in 2004 and, as a result of the collaborative effort, Chennai-based singer Bonnie Chakraborty contributed his vocal talent to a song on her album. Titled “Need Each Other”, the song featured in her album “Roam”.

Lisa has also performed in Mexico, Dubai, Europe, the U.S. and Canada. Her appearances in India will include a concert in Bangalore.

Paul Jacob is a music producer and bass guitarist who now has his own label bodhimuzzik ( www.bodhimuzzik.com), which serves as a platform for musicians. Paul has collaborated and performed with several international artistes and the Laya Project across countries. With shows such as “Chennai Sangamam” and “Laya Project Live”, Paul has brought professionalism and aesthetic presentation to the live stage, integrating both the Indian folk and classical forms with contemporary music.
