People shopped for a cause at a carnival organized by the Sindhi Ladies forum
|
The city is buzzing with activities. Book fairs, food melas, exhibitions, sales and more. And, in the midst of all that there is yet some more. A carnival.
The Sindhi Ladies Forum decided to have some fun and at the same time raise money for the hearing and speech impaired. They did just that by organising a fair at the Kikani School grounds.
Something for all
The carnival was open to all; so there was something for everyone — pulsating music, lucky dip, games such as ‘hoopla’ and ‘dart’ and the perennial favourite, bursting balloons with a rifle.
With the crowds thronging the venue in the evening, the show came alive.
And, how people shopped!
Shoppers’ treat
Wall paintings, furniture, home theatres, sarees and dress materials, toys, hand made paper cards, envelopes, products from Auroville, all found their way into people’s shopping bags.
And, few visitors remained untouched by the stall by Vasantha Memorial Trust, which works towards cancer care and cure.
Special gifts
Apart from the routine prizes, a lucky few walked away with special gifts for having a family photo as their mobile phone wallpaper and wearing a pendant bearing their name.
At the food stall, there was a bee line of people, all waiting to grab their order of lip-smacking golas — crushed ice wrapped around a wooden stick and soaked in sweet syrup.
