I have oily skin and pimple marks. I don’t want to wear heavy make-up. Suggest some tips. — Vidya
Cleanse your face with an astringent lotion, using cotton wool. Wait for a few minutes, and then use a foundation, which is lighter than your skin colour. Using a cotton bud, apply the foundation on the pimple marks. Concealer can also be used instead of foundation. Wait for a few minutes and then apply powder on the pimple marks to “set” the foundation. Then apply compact powder on the face.
I did temporary hair straightening but it didn’t suit me. Then the beautician suggested I should have my hair smoothened. Will it harm my hair? — Chanchal
It depends what the smoothening process involves. If direct heat treatment is administered, it can ruin the hair texture. Use a leave-on type of conditioner after combing your hair. Take a tiny quantity on your palm and spread it on both palms. Then smooth your palms over your hair. Or, massage it lightly into your hair and then comb it.
How many times can one use henna in a month? Does henna application make the hair grow long? — Gunjan
Henna may be used once a week as a hair conditioner. It restores health, adds thickness, body and shine to hair and also helps hair growth. However, the length of growth depends on hereditary factors and a diet that contains adequate protein, vitamins and minerals. I have lots of pimple marks on my face. Suggest a home remedy to get rid of them. I’ve tried using creams but in vain. — Deepa
Mix cucumber juice and lemon juice in equal quantities and apply it daily only on the marks, using a cotton bud. Wash it off after 20 minutes. You can also mix oatmeal with curd into a paste and apply it on the face three times a week. Wash it off after 30 minutes.
I am very tall and thin. Suggest how I can put on some weight? — Karthika
You may very thin, but the important thing is – are you healthy? A healthy body, even if thin, can be strong and well-toned. You can have energy and stamina. Check with your doctor if you feel fatigued or have any medical problem. Like everyone else, you should eat a balanced diet. Why not learn yoga or join a gym, after checking with your doctor if it’s all right?
