Proactive

Heavy downpours are becoming a nigthmare for the city people. Rain water inundates low lying areas and leaves the residents marooned. It also creates heavy damage to the city’s infrastructure especially the roads, sewage and phone lines. The main reason for all the mess is the lack of coordination among various departments like PWD, EB, TWAD Board and BSNL and ineffective planning. The newly laid roads are dug for laying cables, underground drainage and this adds to woes to the people during rainy season. Unless the government is proactive in preventing the floods, monsoon misery will continue to haunt the people.

N.VISWAGANESH,
Tiruchi-3.
