People of Tamil Nadu have experienced havoc due to the incessant rain for the past two months. Normal life was paralysed. Almost all rivers, lakes and ponds overflowed and washed away people, their homes and belongings, cattle, crops awaiting harvest, bridges and roads. Many people had to be rescued and transported to safer places in boats. In some areas, roads were breached to divert the floods. This affected the regular transport facilities.
