Song sung true Kabir Suman hits the high notes

Levi’s presents an evening of live and original Bengali music with the legendary Indian songsmith Kabir Suman.

The concert is on January 12, at the Guru Nanak Bhavan, at 6.30 p.m. Kabir Suman is one of the pioneers of modern Bengali music.

He is performing in aid of his wife, the ailing Sabina Yasmin, who is currently suffering from blood cancer.

Sabina Yasmin, a renowned singer in her own right, has reigned over the Bangla music scene for the past 32 years.

Tickets for this concert are priced at Rs. 250, Rs. 200 and Rs. 150, and are available at all Levi’s exclusive stores (Brigade Road, 100ft Road – Indiranagar, Koramangala, Forum Mall, Garuda Mall, Sigma Mall, Commercial Street); as well as at the Supermarket (Brigade Road); K.C. Das (Church Street); and Bangaliana (Koramangala).

The Wanderers, an adventure club, is organising a two-day trekking programme to Brahmagiri from January 12 to 13. Situated in South Coorg, near Irpu falls, the campsite for the Brahmagiri trek is located 250 kilometres away from Bangalore.

Anjana Shenoy’s Bharatanatya Rangapravesha, presented by Natyanjali, is at ADA Rangamandira, on January 12, Saturday, 6 p.m.

The occasion will be graced by Honorable Mrs. Justice Manjula Chellur, music and dance critic Mysore V. Subramanya, Flautist Daraki Krishnaswamy and Principal, St. Joseph’s College, Dr. Ambrose Pinto S.J. The event is open to all.

An evening of classical music has been organised by Kutumba, group foster care for challenged children, on January 12 at St. Mark’s Cathedral. The programme features Swiss musicians Daniel Bouldjoua on the pipe organ, Liliane Jacques on the flute, bass soloist Pierre Miauton and Bangalore’s Center for Music Education, directed by Ken Henson with soloist Angela Ball.

The concert is in aid of the construction of a school for underprivileged children. Admission free.
