Chords & Notes

Novel

The audio CD of East Coast Vijayan comes with some fine love songs. Of the six soulful melodies, five are sung by K.J. Yesudas. The other singers are Sujatha, Manjari and Swetha. All the songs have been penned by East Coast Vijayan. Music has been sc ored by M. Jayachandran and Umbayee.

With this film, ghazal singer Umbayee makes his foray into Malayalam film music as a music director.

The CD opens with ‘Onninum Alathe Enthino Thonniyorishtam,’ a duet by Yesudas and Manjari. The simple yet meaningful lyrics exemplify Vijayan’s poetic faculties.

The next track has Swetha crooning ‘Kuyile Poomkuyile.’ Swetha proves her calibre as a singer in this song.

‘En Enakiliyude Nombara Ganam Kettu,’ a pathos, brings out the feelings of anguish of a forsaken lover. One of the best songs in the CD, Yesudas has sung it with élan. ‘Urangaan Nee En Arukil Venam,’ again a Yesudas number scored by Umbayee, creates a world of dreams.

‘Ethramel Nee Enne Snehichirunnekel’ by Yesudas and Sujatha expresses the intensity of love and affection. ‘Urangaan Nee En Arukil Venam’ and ‘Onninnum Alathe’ have been repeated in the voice of Manjari. All the songs in the album are appealing and sure to strike a chord with lovers.

The CD is priced at Rs.60.
