Jack Daniel’s Rock Awards is back

When it debuted in 2006, it changed the landscape of rock music in India. Now, Jack Daniel’s Legendary Mash Annual Rock Awards is back with its second edition

This year, the awards saw 193 bands from across India sending their entries, and only five of them, short-listed by the jury, have been nominated for various categories.

The grand award ceremony is to be held on February 1 at Ministry of Sounds, New Delhi. Here, the band of the year award will be announced along with the winners of other categories such as best song, best album, best vocalist, best guitarist, best bass player, best keyboard player and the drummer of the year.

Be the best

The best band will get to fly to Lynchburg, Tennessee, to participate in the international grand finale, with bands from around the globe.

Judging the best will not be an easy task, considering that each nominated member is one of the best in India, especially when you have bands such as Parikrama, Thermal And A Quarter, Junkyard Groove, Menwhopause and Them Clones contesting for the title.

The jury

The jury panel comprises well-known names such as Rahul Ram of Indian Ocean, Vehrnon Ibrahim of Millennium, Craig Fernandes, Gino Banks – drummer and son of Louis Banks, guitarist and bassist Paresh and Naresh Kamath.

Music will continue to cast its spell as part of the awards, where 50 bands will perform at 15 gigs organised at different watering holes in New Delhi.

The audience, too, can cast vote either by filling the nomination form available at Café Coffee Day outlets and pubs or at the website. Check out www.indianrockawards.com.
