A programme for amateur art collectors
|
Art today can be rightfully called one of the biggest investments. A good piece of art has value, not just aesthetically but economically too. People seem to be waking up to the potential of art, of late.
Keeping this in mind, Copal Arts Ltd., an art collection house, recently conducted ‘Looking at Art’ series 3, an art education programme for art collectors at New Delhi’s India International Centre. Art critic and curator Prayag Shukla spoke on Jagdish Swaminathan’s painting. The programme was chaired by poet and art lover Ashok Vajpeyi. Ajay Seth, chief mentor of Copal Arts Ltd., said, “The programme focuses on people who are investing in art now . This new breed of collectors lacks expertise, they have absolutely no clue as to where, how and on which artist to invest. These programmes help them to make the right choice.”
Lectures by experts and art lovers were aimed at helping the new collectors understand the value, meaning and creativity of asingle piece of art. Seth said , “People usually like to buy the work of artists they understand. So, it is these upcoming collectors who decidethe future of art.”
