Another Rajni film
Rajnikanth is going to do a quickie for his mentor K. Balachandar who is producing “Kuchelan” along with Kerala’s leading producer G. P. Vijayakumar of Seven Arts. The film, to be directed by P. Vasu, is a remake of the Malayalam su
per hit “Katha Parayumbol” that released this Christmas. The film is a comedy with a good dose of sentiment that tugs at your heart strings. The story is about the friendship between a barber in a village and a superstar who comes to shoot for a film there. The film is a hit in Malayalam because of its emotional storyline and outstanding performances by Sreenivasan as the barber (he also is the writer and producer of the film along with actor Mukesh), Meena as his loving wife and mother of three children and Mammootty’s brilliant cameo as the superstar. Vasu, a past master in remaking realistic Malayalam films into mass commercial Tamil films (“Chandramukhi” was a remake of the classic “Manichitrathazhu”) will have Pasupathi playing the barber, Simran doing Meena’s character and above all, Rajnikanth doing Mammootty’s role. A top Bollywood heroine will be paired opposite Rajnikanth. “Kuchelan” will have more songs than the original tuned by G.V. Prakash.
