Voice Your Views: Racism in cricket

Gentleman’s game

Racism in cricket is an issue that needs to be seriously addressed. Nowadays, racism happens not only in cricket but in other sports also. Players involved in racist comments should be penalised and banned from playing international cricket. Since cricket is a game of true sportsmanship, this kind of comments, sledging and bad on-field behavior will definitely affect players’ morale and confidence. In this regard, the International Cricket Council (ICC) must take effective steps and appoint a panel of members to monitor and avoid this type of incidents. Cricket is a gentleman’s game and should be played in the right spirit.
