Some yin, some yang

At Uppal’s Orchid’s restaurant “Chef and I”, it is time to choose some Chinese delicacies

The China package A delicacy from the festival menu

The Chef and I restaurant at Uppal’s Orchid has become a great gourmet’s delight, with the ongoing Yin and Yang food festival there. The festival, on till this Sunday, offers a wide range of Chinese dishes, both vegetarian and non-vege tarian.

Vegetarian delights

For all the lovers of authentic Chinese delicacies, the choice can be made from the likes of spinach wraps, soybean tempeh, tangy broccoli with apricot and others. For the non-vegetarians, there is the rolled lobster with gingered fresh plum sauce, steamed crab meat, roasted Thai spring chicken, chilli grilled trout fish and many more.

A complete meal will cost around Rs.1500 per person.

The idea behind such food festivals is to celebrate the spirit of life, says Devraj Halder, the hotel’s Executive Chef.

‘Not the regular stuff’

“We are always known to do things differently and not the regular stuff. The ethos of the hotel is to do things honestly which is good for the customers,” says the chef. Speaking about whether such festivals bring in enough revenue, Chef Halder says, “We definitely generate more revenue during these festivals as compared to a regular day because we entertain more guests. People grow curious about the concept and they come to eat. We generate around a lakh a day.”

So, for a quiet evening with good food for company this Sunday, Chef and I is definitely an option. Take Halder’s word for it.
