Sudesh Mahan holds an exhibition “Seven Buddhas and One Nude” till January 20 at Sri Parvati Gallery, 28, Eldams Road. The mediums include metal, paper, pastel and canvas.
Sudesh, a product of St. Aloysius College, Mangalore, has held several solo shows and has participated in the seventh Karnataka Kalamela (2003), Chitra Santhe, Bangalore (2004, 2005 and 2006) and Kudla Kalavali, Mangalore (2007).
He has also worked as art director in films and serials and won the Uptron Award for best art director for the Hindi serial “Tenali Rama” in 1990. He explored the creative challenges in different fields of art before returning to his first love – painting.
Sudesh is of the view that the truth of all art is evolved along the journey of its time, only to revisit us as metamorphic images. It travels through time only to be discovered with renewed understanding. He says the exhibition is the outcome of his attempt to revisit the Buddha and the nude with humility – both are about enlightenment.
His studio Mana is located at No. 38, First Main, Second Cross, Silver Oak Street, J. P. Nagar Seventh Phase, Bangalore 560078, ph: 91-80-26593732.
