The actress reinvents herself after Athithi
|
“Working in Telugu movies for Athithi, was an altogether different experience because of the new language and the new work atmosphere,” says Amrita. Promoting her flick, My Name is Anthony Gonzalvez, the actress says she loves the response of film goers in AP, however, the almost deity like adoration they accord to film stars is something new to her. In her upcoming movie, she stars opposite debutant Nikhil Dwivedi and plays the role of Ria, an assistant film director and the eventual muse of the hero. “On the sets, I’ve always observed what assistant directors do and so fitting into the role was relatively easy,” she explains. Something to watch out for will be the new look in the song Tum Mile.
Does she expect to make it to Hollywood? Well, of this she’s unsure yet, but she has grown up watching and admiring Meryl Streep and The Bridges of Madison County happens to be one of her favourite Hollywood movies. “I want to reach the professional heights that legends like Meryl Streep and Audrey Hepburn have reached,” she says. Back home, the versatile Aamir Khan and Govinda top her list of actors she’s always wanted to work with.
Career apart, Rao reveals her love for music, singing and dance, which she can’t do without. Her favourite destination in the world is Prague, which she describes as a “city lost in time”. She doesn’t have any particular liking for pets and can’t imagine cuddling up to a cute canine! However, she does have a fetish – a fetish for perfumes! “Right now, my favourite is Cartier.” Her next project sees her starring in a satirical comedy by Shyam Benegal, which will be released soon.
