Well won

Money is his honey Actor Sachin Tyagi

One more reality show has come to an end but this time for a change the winner is a deserving candidate. Sachin Tyagi has won SaharaOne’s Jjhoom India.

Sachin, a promising actor, and his mentor Madhushree, turned out to be dark horses in the singing contest, where big names like Shekhar Suman, Jatin Pandit, Suresh Wadkar and Shweta Tiwari were on show.

The duo was perhaps the only one who did not resort to publicity gimmicks to garner votes. “All through we relied on our voice and performance to garner votes. We didn’t fight with the judges and I never pointed out my mentor’s mistakes in front of the camera. This proves the audience wants to listen to somebody whose sur is in order. Conflicts were shown because people want to see them. The heartening thing is the show started and culminated on a musical note.”

Viewpoints

Sachin says he did have differences with Madhushree. “In fact we had fights almost every week over the choice of songs. Like I felt I can sing “Mere Naina Sawan Bhadon”, while Madhushree was of the view that it doesn’t suit my voice. Now how can she tell me, what suits my voice? But we made it a point that all differences should be settled before we take the stage. And it paid off.”

Few know that Sachin had cut an album four years ago. “It is true but nobody took me seriously as a singer. So I switched to acting and had not practised all this while. After the victory I am feeling confident to revive my singing career but acting will continue to be my vocation. After all I was invited to participate in the show because I have made a name as an actor.” For now he wants to sleep over the Rs.25 lakh prize money! “I want to feel it,” he quips.

A.K.
