Space problem
One evening, while returning from office, I was stranded at an intersection, because of traffic congestion. The jam took almost an hour to clear, after a traffic policeman was summoned. Blaring horns and shrill voices made me step out of my car. I went past the standing vehicles to realise a car was wrongly parked in front of a flat. Hearing the noise, the owner came out and moved the car. He looked helpless as there was no parking space inside the compound and apologised for the inconvenience caused. Today there are a minimum of 20 flats in a building and there is hardly space for six cars. Now that Nano can be bought for a lakh, the number of cars is sure to rise, and builders and town planners should think of ways to provide better parking space. Underground parking or tier parking may be the solution. The public should help by parking their vehicles properly on the roads.
