These easy-to-make finger foods are an ideal tea-time snack.
Scones
Ingredients
Flour: 1 1/4 cups
Powdered sugar: 1/4 cup
Cold butter: 1/4 cup
Buttermilk: 1/4 cup
Baking powder: 1 tsp
Baking soda: 1/4 tsp
Salt: 1/4 tsp
Plain sugar granules: 1 tbsp
Method
Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a bowl. Add powdered sugar and mix well.
Cut in the cold butter cubes into the mixture to resemble coarse crumbs.
Add buttermilk and roll into a soft dough.
Shape dough into a 9 inch round on an ungreased cookie sheet and score into triangular wedges.
Freeze dough for two hours for the scones to retain shape while baking.
Remove dough from the freezer and slice into triangles with floured knife.
Place scones two inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Sprinkle sugar crystals on top.
Bake for 22 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.
Serve warm with the jam of your choice.
