Saving electricity is important and we hope we needn’t ask why. With issues like global warming and diminishing natural resources to deal with, it is time every person contributed a bit to reduce energy consumption.
The Society of Lighting Engineers offers some easy-to-follow tips for a good lighting process. What’s more, it will help you cut down on electricity bills as well.
Replacing an ordinary bulb with a Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) is an obvious help. But easy methods like keeping lights off when not in use go a long way.
Unplug equipment and switch the machine off stand-by mode, as it consumes energy. The stand-by mode represents approximately 5-10 per cent of the electricity bill.
Look for lighting products that use electronics to run, as these result in less pollution. Using task lights is another way of conserving power.
Build natural daylight in combination with artificial lighting at the design stage itself.
Go Green. Green lighting denotes environment friendly lighting that is far more efficient and intends to conserve electricity.
Try switching to newer methods of illumination, like solar lighting, or use renewable sources like wind or bio gas.
A great deal of heat escapes outside because of poor insulation. Check the insulation of your home.
