Number crunching

Here are some fun facts about the world-record breaking effort.

The youngest singer in Konkani Nirantari event was 14-year-old Jennifer Mascarenhas from Puttur.

The eldest singer was 78-year-old Harry D’Souza from Jeri Meri, Mumbai.

The youngest music conductor was from Vamanjoor, 17- year old Melroy D’Cunha.

The eldest conductor Henry D’Souza (64) was from the Mira Road group from Mumbai. While Rony D’Cunha and Thelma D’Souza represented Kuwait, Rony Arun came all the way from Singapore.

The largest group was from Pamboor comprising of 69 members.

The smallest group was from Mira Road with 29 singers,

The longest performance was 1.02:9 hours by Kepechem Kirnam, Goa with13 songs.

There were three lady music conductors at the event namely Ancilla D’Mello (SRA Sisters), Jessy Crasta (Bethany group) and Vidya Naik Vatsa (Goa-Poorna).

The shortest performance was by Mandd Sobhann-Kalakul group, the last performance, which lasted 49:59 minutes with 11 songs.

Dominican-Sandesha combined group with nine songs was the group which sung the least number of songs with a time of 55:3 minutes.

There were 22 witnesses and there were 1,679 signatures on the seven log books maintained to record the event.

The performance was conducted without the five-minute rest break, which could have been taken according to Guinness rules. Though, songs could have been repeated after four hours, Mandd Sobhann also created a record by not repeating any song.

Also, a singer could return to join a group after a four-hour break. But Konkani Nirantari event did not repeat any singers.
