The birth of ‘Thai’ month is considered as Uthrayana Punniya Kalam and ‘Chithirai’ month as Vishu Punniya Kalam.

Astrologers, believers in Panjangam and orthodox people would simply ignore ‘Thai’ first as Tamil New Year Day.

Government, which has been hitherto declaring holiday on the first day of Chithirai month, must continue the same to help believers of Panjangam celebrate Tamil New Year day according to their will.
