‘Punarakhyanan’ will be screened on February 9 at Museum Hall at 4.30 p.m.

There will be a screening of a documentary on sex workers titled ‘Punarakhyanan’ by Madhu Eravankara at Museum Hall, Thiruvananthapuram on February 9 at 4.30 p.m.
The documentary produced by Magic Lantern is set in Moovattupuzha, where an organisation called Swaruma has taken the initiative to mobilise sex workers by creating awareness on AIDS.
The Moovattupuzha Municipality has also stepped up to help them by setting up a laundry unit in the Taluk Hospital.
This project has helped the former sex workers eke out a living.
‘Punarakhyanam’ (‘The Retelling’) portrays the story of triumph of these empowered women. Adoor Gopalakrishnan will inaugurate the screening of the documentary.
